When considering skin care treatments, there are plenty of procedures out there, some invasive and some not. Laser skin resurfacing is a non-invasive, stress-free treatment that delivers excellent results. Even better, you can complete the procedure without interrupting your entire day.

What is a Laser?

The term laser (Light Amplification through Stimulated Emissions of Radiation) describes a focused concentration of light with a narrow beam for application.

These beams of light emit one color of the light spectrum (monochromatic) with each color of the spectrum having a specific purpose. The distinct lasers vary in applications because the different skin blemishes, as well as the tissues, absorb different colors of light.

Lasers are short, pulsating beams of light that concentrate on irregular skin by removing it layer by layer. At Dreyfuss Plastic Surgery, we use the advanced laser technology Laser Genesis, an advanced Yag laser treatment for skin conditions like wrinkles, enlarged pores, scarring, uneven texture, and tone.

What to Expect

Individuals with all skin types and tones can find help with laser skin resurfacing. We apply a topical numbing cream to the target site. During your treatment, you may feel a warming sensation beneath the skin surface.

Most patients find the procedure relaxing and comfortable. We pass the laser over the area about a half-inch above the surface. It is suitable for multiple treatment sites including the chest, neck, and face.

There may be some side-effects from the laser including some mild pinkness or redness. These will subside in a matter of hours. The procedure is not only useful in removing skin blemishes and discoloration but extremely safe as well. Because there is no downtime, it makes an excellent lunchtime treatment where you can leave our office and return to your daily routine.

Visible results

We typically recommend five treatment sessions for optimal results. The number of sessions may vary depending on the severity of your concerns. However, one session will deliver a refreshed skin presence if you need to look your best before an important event on your calendar. We can also utilize Laser Genesis with other aesthetic treatments to boost collagen production and add to your anti-aging regimen.

Results become apparent within a few days, with significant outcomes visible within three to nine weeks after your initial treatment. Because Laser Genesis promotes collagen production, the cosmetic improvement will take some to for the skin to repair itself and reach its full potential.

Laser Genesis is an excellent skin rejuvenation treatment to add to your skincare and anti-aging treatment plan. Whether used as a standalone procedure or with other treatments like microdermabrasion or microneedling, it is an effective maintenance program that can produce or extend your results.

Botox is a popular non-surgical option for diminishing unwanted facial lines and wrinkles. However, this cosmetic stalwart has more uses than eliminating those pesky expression lines. It has proven to be an effective treatment for other cosmetic and non-cosmetic procedures as well. Here are a few:

Acne Treatment

Yes, Botox has been used for treating Acne breakouts by reducing oil production to combat those unsightly pimples. But before resorting to Botox for Acne treatment, all other forms of acne treatments should have been implemented. The best facial area for Acne treatment is the forehead.

Gummy Smile

When a smile shows more than those pearly whites and exposes too much gum above the teeth, Botox can relax the upper lip allowing it to cover more of the exposed gum. Then your smile will focus more on your teeth creating a beautiful smile.

Bunny Lines

Those little lines on either side of the nose which scrunch up and become noticeable are known as bunny lines. Botox injections on each side of the nose will relax the muscles, and like magic, those funny wrinkles will go away.

Muscle Spasms

Whether your experiencing eye or neck spasms, Botox is effective in relaxing the muscle responsible for the spasm. This treatment will temporarily fix this issue which is troublesome to many patients.

Overactive Bladder

For many women over 40 who suffer from urinary incontinence, Botox can be a Godsend. Often prescribed medication does not help, and Botox injections can be the answer. It can be injected into the bladder wall providing relief for up to six months.

Excessive Sweating

When you don’t want ever to let them see you sweat, especially in the armpits, Botox may be an effective treatment. Excessive sweating is common with many women and men particularly during big events like a wedding or a presentation at work. Botox can effectively reduce sweating for up to two years.

Grinding Teeth

Because Botox can control involuntary muscle tension and spasms, it is effective in reducing the problem with grinding your teeth. It weakens the chewing muscles which are responsible for teeth grinding, without upsetting the ability to smile or chew. The results last up to four months.

Migraines

Migraine headaches can be debilitating. Recently, the FDA has approved Botox for Migraine treatment.  Injected into areas around the neck, forehead, and temples, Botox eases the pain and discomfort associated with this uncomfortable condition.

And More

While only a few of these treatments are approved by the FDA, others are off-label treatments. Research is experimenting with Botox for multiple treatments on multiple body parts. Early findings suggest Botox can be helpful in an array of solutions including hair loss and cerebral palsy patients. It can improve a patient’s quality of life in many ways, including those outside aesthetic medicine.

While the holiday season is now over, you can still gift yourself what you’ve wanted for some time – full, sensual lips. You’ve worked hard all of 2018, so why not take the plunge and give yourself the gift of the perfect pout with lip augmentation?

Beautiful lips have always been a staple of a youthful appearance. At Dreyfuss Plastic Surgery in Orland Park, we offer multiple lip augmentation options to help you achieve your ideal lip contour and balanced facial appearance.

Non-Surgical Solutions

Full lips are possible with minimally-invasive injections that provide immediate results. With little risk and no downtime, you’ll enhance your facial beauty quickly and conveniently. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. David Dreyfuss, offers two exceptional treatments to have you looking your best for the holidays and beyond. They include:

Volbella XC®

Patients who want fuller lips and to diminish lines around the mouth can benefit from Juvederm’s Volbella XC®. Downturned lip corners, upper lip lines, and thin lips can create a tired, aged appearance, but they are no match for this filler! Volbella XC® is a minimally invasive injection treatment that restores lost volume, smooths lip texture, and creates a beautiful lip contour.

Volbella XC® uses an injectable gel with Vycross technology, which customizes a light blend of hyaluronic acid. This active ingredient is a natural sugar found in the human body, so there is no risk of allergic reaction. Volbella XC is clinically proven to last up to one year for most patients.

What can VOLBELLA® correct?

  • Improve lip contour
  • Enhance Cupid’s bow
  • Restore lost lip volume subtly
  • Fill in corners of the mouth
  • Make lips more shapely
  • Smooth upper lip lines

Restylane®

One of the most effective dermal fillers for reducing folds and wrinkles and restoring lost volume to improve facial contours, Restylane® is the first of its kind to be FDA approved for lip enhancement for patients over 21. It can plump up the facial volume which has been lost as a result of environmental factors, genetics, or age.

Restylane® is a dermal filler which restores volume by stimulating natural collagen production in target areas. It contains hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance which plays a significant role in your body regenerating collagen.

Restylane® provides positive aesthetic results in resolving wrinkles and fine lines, deep folds around the mouth, and thin lips. After a 30-minute session, most patients return to work or normal activities immediately. Any swelling or redness is temporary, diminishing within a day or two. Results will appear gradually and last up to six months.

There are multiple procedures which are appropriate for gifting this holiday season. These non-surgical treatments are designed to make the patient look and feel their best. Procedures like injectables, skin rejuvenation, or exfoliation procedures may get the warmest appreciation at this time of year. However, it is important that the receiver of your thoughtful gift actually wants to be receiving it. In other words, don’t buy your mom Botox if you aren’t absolutely sure it is what she wants.

Gift Options

With the holidays approaching quickly, these treatments are not only convenient but will provide results in time to appreciate during the holidays and beyond. They include:

Botox®

This injectable is the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world. It is a great way to diminish the initial signs of aging like forehead lines and crow’s feet. The procedure is quick, within a half hour, and the results are visible within a few days to a week.

The product will stop muscle movement which causes dynamic facial wrinkles. Results last up to four months which is perfect for the holidays and beyond the New Year.

Dermal Fillers

These injectables are great to plump up the skin and add volume to sunken cheeks and undereye hollows. They may also provide a regeneration of elastin and collagen to tighten skin and strengthen underlying support.

Results are often immediate with little downtime and long-lasting results up to two years. A combination of fillers can provide what is known as a liquid facelift.

Latisse®

Who doesn’t want a beautiful pair of lashes that are all natural? Latisse is a prescription medication that is proven to grow eyelashes so that your loved one will never have to bother with trying to glue on fake lashes or waiting for their extensions to fall out.

Microdermabrasion

This exfoliation procedure will do away with old, dull skin and reveal a fresh, new underlying skin. It diminishes wrinkles, scarring, sun damage, and other superficial skin issues with a gentle stream of the tiny particles. Microdermabrasion will also trigger collagen production for advanced skin rejuvenation.

Laser Genesis

This non-ablative skin rejuvenation procedure will help resolve skin issues like large pores, wrinkles, sun damage, and uneven texture. Laser Genesis is an in-office treatment which offers a quick, convenient procedure with little to no downtime. Multiple treatments are necessary for optimal results.

Kybella®

This fat reduction injectable is an optimal, minimally-invasive injectable which eliminates stubborn fat pads responsible for cosmetic issues like a double chin. It is convenient, painless, and offers quick results.

Other Procedures to Consider

Dreyfuss Plastic Surgery offers multiple non-surgical procedures suitable for gifting during this time of the year. They include laser hair removal, Cellfina, Ultherapy, and lip augmentation.
