Botox

Chicago Botox by Dr. David Dreyfuss

Since its creation, Botox has been in high demand.

It has established itself as one of the most reliable and safest treatments for reversing wrinkles associated with aging. With a few injections, this time-tested treatment can take years off your facial appearance.

There are multiple factors that can cause facial aging. It’s not just about collagen depletion, damaged free radicals, or hormonal changes. Facial expressions like laughing and smiling will cause muscle movement, which results in folds and furrows. Squinting will also cause those lines to form around your eyes; these lines are commonly known as crow’s feet. Board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Dreyfuss offers Botox injections to work beneath the skin and target the underlying muscle activity to eliminate these early signs of aging.

What is Botox?

Botox® contains small amounts of a purified botulinum protein refined from Clostridium botulinum. Potency, formulations, and approved doses will vary among products, which means one product cannot replace another. These reasons are why there is no such thing as a generic formula for Botox®.

Who are Good Botox Candidates?

Candidates include women and men who wish to diminish fine lines caused by the natural aging process. Unlike surgery, Botox® is quick, easy, and minimally invasive. It is most effective in treating dynamic wrinkles and lines caused by the constant movement of underlying muscles during facial expressions.

These lines and folds are common at the brow, on the forehead, and around the eyes and mouth. Botox patients want quick and easy results, possibly done during their lunch break.

The Botox Treatment

It is a non-surgical, cosmetic injectable capable of smoothing the deep facial lines that result from muscle movement. The Botox® treatment is a relatively short cosmetic procedure, involving tiny injections that provide a rejuvenated look by diminishing frown lines, crow’s feet, and horizontal lines across the forehead.

It relaxes muscle activity, which causes fine lines to form. Results last up to four months but vary from patient to patient. The Botox® treatment has been extensively tested and has more documented results than any other cosmetic procedure over the last two decades. It is the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world.

Botox® is not a surgical procedure, but it is critical to choose a qualified injector under the supervision of a board-certified surgeon. Injectors with little training or experience may leave the patient with a frozen look, or one that looks perpetually surprised. Dr. Dreyfuss offers expert injections that follow the Botox protocols.

No Frozen Face

Dreyfuss Plastic Surgery will strive to produce the most natural results possible. The key to Botox is to make certain your muscles aren’t too relaxed.

We will opt for a moderate result to retain your natural beauty and allow you to show emotions with facial expressions. Too heavy a dose will cause the frozen look seen after too much product. Our rigorous training and extensive experience will assure that your results look natural and subtle. We feel it’s better to add a little later than to deal with the outcome of too much product.

Botox Recovery

Botox® treatment requires no downtime. You can return to your normal responsibilities immediately after your treatment.

Any discomfort is brief and minimal, and side effects are rare. Some patients do develop light bruising at the injection site, which can be covered by makeup.

Within several days, you’ll see a marked improvement, and you should continue to show improvement for approximately one week – lasting approximately four to six months. Individual results vary from patient to patient.

Chicago, IL Botox - FAQs

Does it "hurt?"
Some patients report that being injected with Botox feels like a pinch. We may use ice to numb the treatment area, but no anesthetic is necessary to receive a painless Botox procedure.

Botox® results are technique-sensitive, meaning your injector determines your outcome. Best results include retaining your ability to show expressions. This result is possible along with softening lines and wrinkles if your injector has training in facial anatomy and is fully licensed and certified. Be wary of Botox parties or injections provided outside a medical facility.
