Drooping buttocks with poor skin tone after high-volume weight loss can now be treated.

A Buttock Lift can help correct excess fat deposits, loose skin, and weak muscles to achieve a firmer, tighter appearance. This procedure is often performed in combination with other procedures such as liposuction, tummy tuck and thigh lifts.

The procedure is performed under general anesthesia and most patients recover within two to three weeks.

Many people perceive the gluteal area, or the buttocks, as an important physical characteristic, as well as important for cushioning and balance. When gluteal projection is inadequate or asymmetrical, surgical augmentation can serve as a solution.

There are two ways to perform this procedure at our practice:

  • Buttock implants
  • Liposuction and lipo-injection (fat transfer) techniques

The use of buttock implants involves surgical placement of specially shaped artificial implants through discreet vertical incisions in the crease of the buttock. While the implants can be placed above or below the gluteus maximus muscle, we prefer to place them below the muscle in what is called a subfascial position.

The use of liposuction and lipo-injection requires the injection of significant volumes of body fat into the areas that need augmenting. When this method is performed properly – with adequate fat survival and careful body contouring – surgery can yield impressive, natural results.

Buttocks augmentation performed with these techniques is often referred to as a Brazilian butt lift. Liposuction is performed first to harvest useable fat, which is then purified. A series of lipo-injections is then done at specified intervals (hours or weeks apart), using the harvested fat to perform the augmentation.

An experienced surgeon is imperative for success in both these methods.
